A newly developed neuroprosthesis allows paralysed limbs to move voluntarily by sending messages from the brain to the muscles, bypassing the spinal cord. The device comprises of one implant


in the brain and one in the arm. Northwestern University researchers hope the device could eventually aid paralysed patients. The brain signals and subsequent muscle activity of monkeys


were observed in the study. Scientists then programmed the device to respond to brain signals with electrical currents that caused tiny muscle contractions. Read more at Northwestern
