What makes a 6-0 lead better for the Mets? Some in-game entertainment. During the top of the eighth inning in Wednesday night’s Mets-Dodgers game in Los Angeles, just as Mets outfielder
Starling Marte stepped up to the plate, a fan dashed onto the field. The shirtless man gave it his all as he ran through the Dodger Stadium outfield and along the warning track. The wannabe
track star had success outrunning most of the security guards — even with a wardrobe malfunction where one of his shoes flew off. EXPLORE MORE His pants proved to be his downfall, however,
as they couldn’t keep up with his blistering pace. Security caught up, and a dogpile ensued. Soon after, he was escorted out of the stadium through the center-field gates. Whatever he was
trying to accomplish was lost on the SNY broadcast crew. “I mean, when they run onto the field, what’s the endgame?” play-by-play man Gary Cohen asked. “There’s no endgame, it’s going to be
painful and expensive in the end.” While the intruder was not shown on the SNY broadcast, viewers were treated to the reactions of the Mets dugout. First baseman Pete Alonso was all smiles
as he watched the interloper run across the field, laughing and pointing alongside Brandon Nimmo at the theatrics. For Alonso, it was a great way to cap his already outstanding night. The
slugger hit two home runs and had five RBIs to propel the Mets to a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers, with the Amazin’s claiming two of the first three contests in L.A. The Mets are looking to
finish off their four-game set with another victory Thursday — maybe with one fewer fan in attendance.
