ABSTRACT THE facility with which pathogenic protozoa and A bacteria may acquire resistance to therapeutic agents, as a result of non-curative treatment of infections by these pathogens, is
of profound significance both for the theory and for the practice of chemotherapy. The readiness with which trypano-some species may thus develop resistance to certain types of compound is
well known; but malaria parasites in general have hitherto appeared singularly incapable of developing an acquired resistance, although a number of claims to have demonstrated this property
