HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England — Orange Coast College’s heavyweight eight crew was eliminated in Saturday’s semifinals of the Temple Cup in the 153rd Royal Regatta.
The Pirates led by half a boat length at the halfway point, before Ireland’s Trinity College, from Dublin, finished strongly for a three-quarters length victory. Trinity College was timed in
6 minutes 31 seconds. Trinity will face Imperial College of London in today’s final.
This was Orange Coast’s ninth appearance in one of the world’s most prestigious regattas, and the second time it has advanced to the semifinals. Orange Coast has never made it to the finals.
