now 20, pleaded guilty to intentionally causing grievous bodily harm and the aggravated armed robbery of Alexander Robert Friend, 47, at Waverley on January 9-10, 2018.

Crown prosecutor Luke Brett said Herlihy was one of four involved in the bashing and theft of drugs and thousands of dollars in cash.

Herlihy, a cake shop employee, was originally charged with attempted murder.

One of Herlihy's co-accused Clinton Wilson, 25, was sentenced last year to a five year and six months jail term.

Defence counsel James Oxley told Justice Robert Pearce that the principle of parity should be weighed because Herlihy would give evidence in the upcoming trials of co-accused men.

Mr Brett said Herlihy travelled to a unit at Allwinton Court, Waverley about 9pm where several people were. About 11pm, Mr Friend was invited to the unit via text.

Mr Friend arrived with a large amount of ice and several thousand dollars in cash.

He was subjected to a prolonged, vicious and brutal beating which included the wielding of a chair leg .

As Mr Friend lay on the ground, severely injured, Herlihy kicked his face with such force as to render him unconscious.

He remanded in custody for sentence on February 24.
