My research considers common dilemmas of work-life reconciliation viewed through the prism of time-space coordination and 'soft' infrastructures of daily life. My current research draws

attention to novel forms of 'intentional community' (combining private spaces with common spaces and shared amenities), notably cohousing in the UK, USA and Australia. Further reflections on

past, present and future 'communalism' spring from unique access to ethnographic research in the 'freetown' of Christiania, Copenhagen, DK. Abstract concepts of sustainable de-growth are

animated with reference to social processes of living together and the soft skills of cooperation and collaboration required for people to negotiate common values with others.
