Researchers have identified a gene in barley that is responsible for production of carbohydrate beta glucan. Beta glucan is found in oats and barley and is thought to be effective in
lowering blood cholesterol and promoting bowel health. The discovery could generate the development of healthier grains that would offer cholesterol-lowering properties. Versatility of the
