Research on mice has found that long-term exposure to air pollution can lead to physical changes in the brain, depression and other learning and memory problems. Mice were exposed to either
filtered air or polluted air for six hours a day, five days a week for 10 months. They were then trained to find an escape hole in a brightly lit area that led to a dark box. The mice that
were exposed to the polluted air took longer to learn where the escape hole was located and often had difficulty remembering where it was when later tested. Read more at The Ohio State
