ABSTRACT OBSIDIAN was widely traded in prehistoric times, and it is of particular interest to archaeologists to reconstruct the trading patterns1–5. One possible source of obsidian for
prehistoric man is Lipari Island (Eolie Archipelago, Italy) and we have dated obsidian flows there for two chief reasons: first, to find out which of these flows could have been used by
