Since you have arrived here, I can only assume to made it through the previous tutorials. Congrats! This will be a rather short part, since installing appliances from the marketplace is

extremely easy! For this example we will be installing pfSense on our GNS3 server. Start by opening your GNS3 application. Select ‘New template’ from the ‘File’ dropdown list. Next select

‘Install an appliance from the GNS3 server (recommended)’ In the following screen, search for ‘pfsense’ Select ‘pfSense’ and click ‘Install’ Select the option ‘Install the appliance on the

main server’ and click ‘Next’ Leave the Qemu binary on the default option and click ‘Next’. You will now see the following screen: Open the version you want to install. You will need to

download two files in this case: the ISO disc image and a qcow2 image (virtual hard drive). Select the file you wish to download and click on ‘Download’ in the bottom left corner. GNS3 will

warn you that this redirects you to a website where you can find the files. Click ‘OK’ and a browser window should open to a website where you can download the required file. Do this for all

the files listed under a release. Once downloaded, import the file by selecting ‘Import’. This will start uploading the downloaded file to the GNS3 server. Depending on your internet speed

and the file size, this might take a while. Finally click on ‘Next’. Here you will see some info about the appliance. Then click ‘Finish’. And that is it! You have just installed an

appliance on your GNS3 server. You can now start using these appliances in your projects. To do so, create or open a project, open the device category of the appliance you just installed and

just drag the appliance on the project canvas. In this tutorial we showed you how to install pfSense on GNS3, but the procedure is the same for all the appliances that you can find in the

GNS3 market place. GO TO PART 5 OF THIS SERIES OF TUTORIALS
