I have decided to open up an anonymous Medium account in order to help myself move forward with my life, fully commit to my goals and track the progress. Why anonymous? I am a finance

professional based in a major European city (hard to guess where, right..?). This is an industry where you are supposed to be successful anyway. This is not an environment where people

expect you to open your heart and talk about your setbacks or certain private topics or simply what type of person you want to become. Where am I coming from? I am fairly successful and just

starting my own little family, I also have a great relationship with my parents and the rest of my family. I am in my late 20’s / early 30’s and I am healthy, I believe I am at least decent

looking and I am relatively athletic. All in all I am pretty happy with my life. Why do I want to change? I have achieved where I stand at the moment without being the best in anything,

even though the industry I am working in claims to only hire the best. This is not because I could be the best if I really want to, I was always either just too lazy or too satisfied to

reach for the top. This is a red line through my sports, university and professional career (I do not include family here because I love my wife and my family and do not want to rate them on

a basis what I could have achieved. They are the best for me anyway). Don’t get me wrong, I did my allnighters during university as well as in business and the average Joe would probably be

impressed by my workload and achievements. When I come back to my hometown and meet current and old friends, I am generally considered the guy who made it. BUT: I just feel like I do not

(or never did) unlock my full potential. I always think big and I always wanted to reach for the stars. Approaching my mid-life inclination point right now makes me wonder if this is the

time to turn it around and really achieve what I always wanted. I might just try to avoid a midlife crisis in five or ten years time or I might just start to think differently with the

outlook of becoming a father soon. Who knows, but I want to make a change now and I want to really go for what I want from life before it is too late. So what do I actually want? Let me put

together a dynamic list (subject to change in priority and circumstances). MORE INCOME: This is a no-brainer. Money buys you good times and pretty things and even though I do earn some

decent money, living expenses for a young family in a major city can be overwhelming and cause headaches and worry. I want my wife not to have to work anymore so she can focus on raising a

child, I want to be fully flexible in travelling to see my friends and family whenever I want. I want to be able to afford the best education for my kids (if they want it) and I want to be

able to take my family and friends on vacation to spend quality time. I also like nice toys. You see I am a simple man who likes a high living standard. I know real happiness comes from

within, but money can certainly form the circumstances for it. FAMILY: I am a family man. I want to have a big family and especially with my grandparents passing away I want to spend time

with my parents as much as possible and I also want a lot of kids (which ties quite logically into my first point). Working in a minimum 12 hour per day finance role does not really allow to

spend a lot of quality time with your loved ones. Even if the workload decreases over the years and you become less hands-on and more senior, this is still an industry where you have to

fight for your free space and you are barely plugged out. HOUSE / SPACE: We currently live in a flat that is neither small nor big but I love it. However, everyone knows what difference in

life quality it makes to have space and room to breathe. I therefore want to buy a large house somewhere quiet and beautiful with a wide property. You have to realistically spend 6–7 figures

for this. CURRENT JOB: I want to become excellent in what I am doing. Some might think this does not sound like a logic step as I just complained about the working hours and little time

with family, but for me it is. Here is why: My approach from now on should be to be great in everything I really do and my job is certainly a part of it. If no other opportunity arises and I

managed to really perform in my current role this will pay dividends and bring me closer to all my other goals. SIDE BUSINESS: I am running a side business that generates an income in the

low 4 digits per month. I am looking to scale, automate and make this so significant, that I could always walk away from my current job and still do great financially. I want this to give me

freedom. HEALTH / FITNESS: I am athletic as well as healthy, but I have never been shredded and I am constantly a few kilos above my ideal weight. I want to go all in now. There are various

other points and areas I identified, but these are the major ones. I will dedicate a post on medium for each of them and will report on the progress so stay tuned. Thanks for reading.
