STAFF AT THE BEAUTY BAZAAR MAY BE AT RISK OF REDUNDANCY 12:20, 12 Mar 2025Updated 12:27, 12 Mar 2025 One of Liverpool ONE's biggest retailers will be closing its doors soon, as the
Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar is set to shut. The store, which is located on Manesty's Lane in the city centre, opened its doors for the first time in 2012. The ECHO understands staff at
the Beauty Bazaar were informed of the planned closure on Tuesday, March 11. In a statement shared with the ECHO, a Harvey Nichols spokesperson said: “As we implement our strategy to
reposition Harvey Nichols for growth, our emphasis is on full category stores within our estate. “We have reviewed our store portfolio and mutually agreed with the Landlord of our Beauty
Bazaar location in Liverpool to surrender the lease as we focus on investment into full-category stores.” “Unfortunately, this means that our employees in the Liverpool store may be at risk
of redundancy. We have entered into a consultation process and are doing everything we can to support those affected by the surrender.” A spokesperson from Liverpool ONE said: “Beauty Bazaar
Harvey Nichols has made an important contribution to Liverpool ONE’s success since opening in 2012. We’re committed to bringing the best, in-demand brands to Liverpool ONE and we have
well-progressed plans to transform the space that will ensure Liverpool ONE continues to go from the strength-to-strength. We look forward to sharing an update soon.” The ECHO understands
the planned closure of the store is set to take place mid-April. Article continues below The store was one of the last to reopen in Liverpool ONE following the national shut down of all
non-essential stores in March 2020. Instead of reopening in June, like retailers such as Primark, Zara and Sports Direct, Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar chose to opt for a phased reopening.
Its stores in Knightsbridge, Leeds, Edinburgh and Manchester began reopening throughout June to August of 2020. The Liverpool store, which is also home to a hair salon, spa and bar, reopened
at 10am on Wednesday, September 30 that year. The Harvey Nichols store offered an array of products and treatments across three floors in Liverpool ONE. It celebrated its opening in with a
day of pampering and stars including city WAGs. American socialite and model Olivia Palermo cut the ceremonial ribbon and declared the store officially open. The decision to launch in
Liverpool was based upon research which showed the city was the second most lucrative beauty market in the UK, outside of London. Speaking ahead of the store's opening in 2012, Daniela
Rinaldi, the retailer’s group concession and beauty director at the time, said: “Girls in Liverpool have single-handedly held the banner for glamour. They are groomed within an inch of their
lives. They live and breath beauty and this is a thank you to them. “Globally this will be the first time international and premium brands will be housed within such a luxurious
environment. It has superseded everyone’s expectations and the most used word in this store is ‘wow’ so it is perfectly in keeping with the name of our fabulous champagne and cocktail bar.”
