Sen. Barack Obama is sitting down with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly for a long-promised interview today, a first for the Democratic presidential contender. In January, Obama told O’Reilly he
would make an appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor,” the top-rated cable news program, and the Fox News host has relentlessly reminded him of that pledge on the air. Obama picked a pivotal
night for his appearance. The interview -- set to take place in York, Pa. -- will air at 5 p.m. PT on the last evening of the Republican National Convention. Additional portions will run in
the days that follow. His decision to go on “The O’Reilly Factor,” a program anathema to much of the political left, marks a shift from the Democratic primaries, when Obama and his rivals
largely avoided appearances on Fox News. That stance softened this spring as general election drew nearer. -- Matea Gold MORE TO READ
