COMPTON — City officials have posted a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of a gunman who fired a fusillade of bullets through a family’s front door two

weeks ago, killing a 6-year-old girl and wounding two of her brothers and her father. Officials say they hope the reward, approved by the City Council on Tuesday, will encourage the

community to help solve a crime that has them stumped. “We’ve got no leads,” said Compton Police Capt. Danny Sneed. “That’s very unusual. Usually by now, we have at least received rumors

from the community to point us in the right direction.” The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Someone knocked on the door of a home in the 600 block of School Street and

began firing before anyone answered. The bullets killed Lorena Yanez, 6, who was hit in the head. She was in a coma for two days before doctors took her off life support. Injured were her

brothers, Rodrigo Yanez Jr., 2, and Adrian Patlan, 12, and her father, Rodrigo Yanez, 23. They are expected to recover. MORE TO READ
