In what some might consider an unusual move--the Christian and Jewish faiths will soon be worshiping in the same space in Camarillo. After outgrowing its Portola Road location, the Unity
Church of Ventura will be moving its 10 a.m. Sunday service to Camarillo beginning Sunday, sharing space with the Jewish Families of Camarillo. “Though I don’t know much about the Jewish
faith, I do know that we are all in agreement that God is good,” said the Rev. Beth Ann Suggs of Unity. “We have completed 40 years in Ventura and have been blessed by it,” Suggs added. “Our
desire is to move into a more central location where we can reach out and serve the larger community in our county.” Suggs said more people from Thousand Oaks and Camarillo seem to be
joining the congregation. Because Jews generally worship on Saturday and the Unity congregation on Sunday, there won’t be any conflict over the space at 4098 Calle Tesoro, Suite D. “We are
delighted our space can be used to pray to God and for people to come together,” said Lihi Gershater, executive director of Jewish Families of Camarillo. Both women say sharing the center
will foster a feeling of community. “After being around the people at the Jewish center, I feel that compassion and brotherhood are far more important than theology,” Suggs said. For more
