3. 9 quake shakes hollister, but no injuries or damage are reported

HOLLISTER, Calif. — An earthquake measuring magnitude 3.9 shook Hollister on Saturday night, but there were no reports of damage or injuries. The quake hit at 6:22 p.m., said Pat Jorgenson,

a spokeswoman for the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park. The quake was centered on a “creeping” section of the San Andreas Fault, Jorgenson said. “(This part of the fault) has never been

known to have earthquakes larger than 5 points in magnitude because it’s been releasing stress at nice, regular intervals,” she said. The epicenter was located about 12 miles east of
