Effort to Recall Eggers Draws Protest

Everyone who watches politics in Dana Point knows that Mike Eggers and I have no love lost between us. The whys and wherefores of our differences can be the subject of another letter. This

letter has to do with the effort currently underway to recall Eggers.

I am adamantly opposed to this recall. It is completely and utterly groundless and a waste of time, energy and taxpayers’ money. Eggers has done nothing against the better interests of the

citizens of Dana Point. I don’t agree with many of his decisions but those decisions were made honestly and forthrightly. Eggers has never bent to political pressure. His voting record has

always been honest and extremely conservative.

This recall effort is worthless. The people spearheading it are members of what I call the “Undertakers.” They cannot find a positive thing to say about anything in town.

Rather than working to better the situation with new ideas and concepts, they busy themselves with trying to bury all of the good work that others have done and continue to do.

Don’t sign the recall petition, even if you don’t like Eggers. If you’ve already signed, call the city clerk and ask her to invalidate your name when the petitions are turned in. Tell these

“Undertakers” to sniff their own embalming fluid and leave the rest of us alone. We want to give Dana Point life, not bury it.
