We wish to publicly acknowledge Supervisor Mike Antonovich for blocking the imminent demolition of one of the most charming buildings in historic Old Calabasas. Responding to an urgent

request from the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation, the supervisor authored an emergency ordinance that revoked a permit to demolish the quaint, turn-of-the-century Calabasas Junction

building. The ordinance requires that any developer who seeks to destroy any buildings in Old Town in the future must receive approval of the county’s Regional Planning Commission, thus

allowing community input through public hearings. The Old Town section of Calabasas is one short block, but it is the heart of our community. The Western-style storefronts preserve an

ambience and charm that are unique and precious to residents of Calabasas and neighboring communities. The buildings of Old Town deserve to be preserved. Certainly no new buildings should be

erected in Old Town that are not compatible with the Old West flavor. Perhaps the Board of Supervisors could designate Old Town as a county historic district. MYRA TUREK BOB RONKA Calabasas
