MARJAYOUN, Lebanon — Bomb disposal experts Thursday defused explosives planted near the home of the commander of the Israeli-backed militia in south Lebanon, security sources reported.

They said the device, 88 pounds of TNT attached to a rocket, was found about 300 yards from the home of Gen. Antoine Lahad in this town just inside an Israeli-declared security zone.

Lahad, a former Lebanese army commander, has led the Israeli- trained and financed South Lebanon Army militia since 1985.
