Jeff Oberdank extended his hitting steak to 11 games as UC Irvine defeated USC, 11-4, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday on Anteater Field.
Oberdank had a single in the first as Irvine (14-11-1) took a 4-0 lead. Oberdank hit a two-run home run in the second and Irvine led, 6-1. John Seeburger and Marcus Robinson both had hits to
extend their hitting streaks to nine games each.
Craig Brink (5-2) pitched his fourth complete game of the season for Irvine. USC (18-4) is the 11th-ranked team in the nation.
Southern California College 3, Regis 0--Mark Deushane (2-2) struck out nine, gave up three hits and walked two in five innings for host Southern California College (4-13-1).
Cal State Fullerton 3-1, San Diego State 0-0--Anjie Bryant (13-0) pitched a two-hitter in the first game and Debbie Schneider had two hits for visiting Fullerton (22-2, 2-0) in the PCAA
opener for both teams.
UC Irvine 8, Cal State Long Beach 1--Kelly Goldsborough defeated Stacey Belkin, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, and Karin Bering defeated Cathie Teobaldi, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, for visiting Irvine (11-4).
