The county has approved a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant for a new shelter for battered women and their children, which will be operated by the San Gabriel Valley YWCA. The
remaining cost, $168,500, has been raised by the YWCA. Since 1980 the YWCA has provided emergency shelter and services to battered women but needs larger quarters. The other two shelters for
