Santa Ana Valley got its first Century League victory, rallying to beat Villa Park, 18-10, Thursday night in Santa Ana Stadium. The Falcons (1-2, 2-6), moved out of last place with the

victory over the Spartans (0-3, 2-6). “We developed as a program tonight,” said Dan Castanon, Santa Ana Valley coach. “We still have a long way to go, but we solidified our effort tonight

with hard work.” Villa Park had a 3-0 lead at the half on Ryan Hayes’ 38-yard field goal in the second quarter. Santa Ana Valley went ahead in the third quarter on a two-yard run by running

back Roshawn Lacy. But Villa Park came back as junior quarterback Rob Davey completed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Scott Creagan for a 10-6 lead early in the fourth quarter. Santa Ana Valley

scored on a one-yard run by quarterback Steve Calhoun to take a 12-10 lead with 1:40 left. Villa Park fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Santa Ana Valley recovered on the Villa Park 30-yard

line. Two plays later, Santa Ana Valley running back Paul Peters ran 19 yards for a touchdown and an 18-10 lead. Calhoun completed 11 of 21 passes for 184 yards. The Falcons outgained the
