Western runner-up, beat third-seeded Carlsbad, 6-1, at San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club. Julie Coakley, seeded fourth in the Section singles tournament, paced La Jolla with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3
win over Nicole Main, the sixth seed in the Section event. Leading Bishop’s was Shannon Crockett, the Section’s second-seeded singles player, who won, 6-1, 6-0. In opening-round play in the

fifth in the Section singles tournament, led Poway with her 6-1, 6-3 decision over Lisa Takashima. Valhalla 5, Patrick Henry 2--Katrina Crawford, favored to repeat as Section singles
champion later this month, led third-seeded Valhalla (19-1) to victory over visiting Patrick Henry (10-3-1). Crawford beat Sue Hawke, 6-2, 6-1. Torrey Pines 7, Coronado 0--The top-seeded
