Press release OVERNIGHT AND WEEKEND CLOSURES FOR A160 UPGRADE Drivers are being advised there will be a series of closures on the A180 as work continues on a £88.4 million scheme to improve
access to the Port of Immingham. THIS NEWS ARTICLE WAS WITHDRAWN ON 12 OCTOBER 2017 This document is no longer current Contractors for Highways England need to close a 4-mile stretch of the
dual carriageway between Stallingborough Interchange and Brocklesby Interchange for engineering and resurfacing work. There will be a full weekend closure on the westbound carriageway from
8pm on Friday 20 November until 6am on Monday 23 November. Lane 2 of the eastbound carriageway will also be closed. The following weekend, there will be a full closure on the eastbound
carriageway from 8pm on Friday 27 November until 6am on Monday 30 November. Lane 2 of the westbound carriageway will also be closed. The A180 will then be closed overnight in both directions
from 8pm on Wednesday 2 December until 6am on Thursday 3 December. Drivers will be able to follow clearly signed diversion routes. Highways England project manager, Ben Ridgeon, said: >
We are carrying out this improvement work at night and at weekends > when traffic levels are at their lowest to minimise disruption to > road users. > > Once this scheme has
been completed, traffic congestion will be > reduced, journey times will become more reliable, and safety will be > improved for road users and the local community. > > The A160
will also be upgraded to a dual carriageway along its > entire length, providing better access to the Port of Immingham and > the surrounding area. The project began in March and aims
to provide better access to the port, stimulating growth and unlocking economic benefits. It is due to be completed in summer 2016. The Port of Immingham is the UK’s largest port by tonnage
and handles up to 55 million tonnes of goods every year, including nearly 20 million tonnes of oil and 10 million tonnes of coal. More details on the scheme, including a computer-generated
