RETIREMENT brings a 216 acre dairy farm onto the market in Essex although due to the current market conditions the unit has been split into five lots.
"The cows and milk quota will be sold separately which is typical of a number of dairy farms sold in the county recently," said Tim Fagan, Strutt & Parker.
Milles Farm, Stisted, near Braintree, is guided at offers in the region of £1.13m for the whole.
But in an attempt to appeal to the residential sector, a price tag of £550,000 is put on the six-bedroom house, a range of outbuildings and about 4 acres.
The land, which is mainly a grade 2 loam over gravel, is split equally into arable and pasture and Mr Fagan values the best arable land at £2650/acre. Other lots range from 74 acres of
permanent pasture, some traditional barns, dairying facilities and grain storage to a 7 acre paddock.
Another adjoining 136 acres in the same ownership could be rented on a farm business tenancy. *
