Smithfield market and believes the purchase is a natural fit to expand the group. William Buchanan, co-owner and joint managing director, said: “We see this as an excellent opportunity to
grow the Gressingham business and provide the opportunity to diversify into new markets.” The acquisition follows the purchase at the end of May of the business and assets of Richmond-based
Yorkshire Game 17 Ltd, which included the company’s retail brand Wild. The move safeguarded 25 jobs. Earlier this year, the Gressingham Group, which employs more than 550 people, launched
its first sub-brand “Bistro by Gressingham,” as part of its retail growth plans. New products have been introduced into more than 200 Waitrose stores and the range is being rolled out
nationwide to Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Booths supermarkets. Gressingham aims to have another 750,000 households regularly eating duck.
