MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING SETS UP SECURITY TEAM
Geneva-headquartered Mediterranean Shipping Co. has implemented an internal structure, and named senior executives, to address security issues globally. Captain Pasquale Formisano,
director of MSC in Geneva, and Paulo Quariguasy, who was appointed liner security officer, are coordinating worldwide security efforts from the company’s headquarters in Geneva. In the
United States, Captain Marvin Pontiff, manager of security and compliance, oversees the company’s security activities in North America. As previously announced, MSC has enrolled in the
ocean carrier portion of the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program initiated by the U.S. Customs Service. The program encourages the maritime industry, global shippers and
relevant business sectors to support the government’s strategy to improve supply chain security. MSC said that it has already been working with U.S. Customs on security initiatives, and
expects to be quickly approved by C-TPAT.
