of 16 (on or before October 1, 2019) to take part. The Voice is open to solo artists as well those in a duo or a trio. Aspiring pop stars have a little while yet and the closing date for

team which will be scouring the country far and wide with trials taking place at numerous locations across Britain. There will be open mic nights taking place where auditionees can show off

their vocal talents at locations including Cambridge, Colchester, Blackpool, Preston, Blackburn, Bradford, Newcastle, Middlesborough, York, Essex, Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Bristol,

Manchester, Aberystwyth and Belfast. According to the ITV website, singers are asked to prepare one or two songs with a backing track or a musical instrument to accompany their performance.

The site goes on to state that all backing tracks will need to be on an electronic device, presumably rather than a CD or tape. ITV has released a number of open mic details and would be

RETURN? The Voice UK is expected to be back on screens in early 2020, most likely January if previous start dates are anything go by. The new series will most likely be running for 14

consecutive weeks before the grand final. ITV has yet to confirm the judging panel for The Voice 2020 but it’s widely expected that there will be some changes. While will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones

and Olly Murs said they’d all return for another series, Jennifer Hudson’s future on the show seemed less clear. The Dreamgirls actress suggested she had other commitments which could mean

a scheduling clash with The Voice. At a press conference for The Voice, she told media including Express.co.uk: “I truly, truly love this, and I’m three seasons deep. I would want to

continue but I don’t know if my schedule will allow me to. “I will be leaving this in the midst and going across country to promote Cats.” Hudson is going to be starring in Tom Hooper’s big

screen outing of iconic musical Cats in which she will be playing Grizabella. She is also set to be part of the Aretha Franklin biopic, which again could be keeping her busy and possibly
