Generator Hostels has reported a 55 percent increase in bookings for the weekend of the royal wedding, with fans travelling from the US, Canada, Germany and France to celebrate the
couple's big day. Sales of beds to stay in the Generator Hostel near Kings Cross over the wedding weekend are up by 100 percent year over year (YOY) for US customers, 120 percent for
Canada, 170 percent for France and 126 percent for Germany. Jason Rieff of Generator Hostels said: “Here at Generator we are really looking forward to the royal wedding. “It’s becoming a
global event with people from all over the world travelling to London to stay here and be able to say they were a part of it. “Sales of beds are up YOY for the wedding weekend and excitement
is growing by the day. “We are having fun with it by offering out a competition to lucky couples names Harry and Meghan. It’s a great excuse to celebrate!” Data released by Generator also
revealed that 25 percent of its London bookings for the royal wedding weekend were from customers based in the UK. Windsor residents are cashing in up to £15,000 a night by renting out rooms
to fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Meghan and Harry on the day of the royal wedding. Locals in January disclosed plans to open their doors to visitors after receiving offers in the
thousands of pounds. One homeowner living on Park Street told the Daily Star Sunday: “We’ve all been contacted by TV channels and things like that. “I’ve been offered £10,000 to move out for
the week and I’m seriously considering it.” Meanwhile, two rooms above The Horse and Groom pub, opposite Windsor Castle, are understood to have been rented out for whopping £15,000 a night.
And US broadcaster NBC News is said to have rented out one floor of the Carpenters Arms for a rumoured £30,000. Sam Glancy, the landlord of the Carpenters Arms said NBC had also rented out
two rooms with balconies in another building facing the castle. She said the fee was “in the tens of thousands”. Kensington Palace has confirmed newlyweds Meghan and Harry will embark on a
25 minute carriage procession through the streets of Windsor following the royal wedding ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19. Beginning at 1pm, the route will include
Castle Hill, High Street, Sheet Street, Kings Road, Albert Road, Long Walk and finally Windsor Castle.
