confirmed speculation on Sunday that it had secured the signature of the paceman for BBL 06.

Broad will join Sri Lankan veteran Kumara Sangakkara, who is already locked in past next season for the Canes, as the second overseas player at Bellerive Oval.

“Stuart Broad has an incredible record in all three formats and his knowledge of the game overall will be a huge asset for our bowling group going forward,” a thrilled Hurricanes coach,

Damien Wright, said.

“He will give us great firepower with the ball and will be a fantastic inclusion into our pace attack joining Tait, Reed and Rainbird.”

Wright said the world’s current fourth-ranked Test bowler and former English T20 captain will be a serious asset in the side’s campaign to win its first BBL title.

“It was key to find someone who could contribute in a big way with the ball and we believe we’ve signed one of the very best to do this.

“He is terrific fella, who is determined to do well throughout the Big Bash.”
