Eccles said on Friday the cable was in the process of being reburied.
He said all operational testing leading to the interconnector’s return to service had been successfully completed.
“We have been extremely satisfied with the final stages of the repair project, and all testing has shown the interconnector is ready to resume operation,” Mr Eccles said.
Mr Eccles said that both the energy and the fibre optic capacity of the interconnector would return to service at the same time.
He said Basslink was working with its telecommunication customers to assist with a smooth return.
Mr Eccles said that investigations into fault diagnosis were still ongoing.
The cause of fault will be crucial in impending legal action between Basslink and Hydro Tasmania.
Due to the energy crisis the government will lose $100 million from Hydro Tasmania in lost dividends.
Hydro’s storage levels have now reached 26 per cent, after hitting a low of 12.8 per cent April.
The cable broke in December last year, and took months before the fault was even detected.
The incident required the hiring of a special cable laying vessel throughout the duration of the massive repair job.
Basslink has informed the Australian Energy Market Operator that the cable would be in operation on June 14.
Energy Minister Matthew Groom said it was a significant and welcome development that “further eases risks associated with energy supply”.
“This along with the winter and spring inflows will help continue the rebuild of our major storages,” he said.
Hydro Tasmania has begun to immobilise diesel generators brought to the state for backup power.
Hydro has spent about $60 million on the diesel generators.
