Deborah W. Meier has joined New York University’s school of education as a senior scholar in its Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and as an adjunct professor in the education school’s


department of teaching and learning.


Ms. Meier, 74, has had a distinguished career in public education as a teacher, writer, and public school advocate. She founded schools in Boston and New York City and has published a number


of books, including, most recently, Many Children Left Behind.


The NYU school of education has an enrollment of about 6,900 students.
