Women previously engaged in agricultural work in their own fields as well as others’ fields as agricultural labourers. However, since the land has been acquired for mining, these activities
have ceased, leaving women vulnerable. Women also took part in collection of Common Property Resources (CPRs) such as firewood, timber, fibre, edible oil plants, bamboo, varieties of spices
and beverages, _kendu_ leaves and _chara_ for income. These resources have now been destroyed by mining activities and women are left with little to do.
