On Wednesday, in a timely reminder of his Twenty20 prowess, Suryakumar Yadav continued his batting masterclass with a fine century as Mumbai geared up for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which
will begin from January 10 with a practice game between Mumbai B and Mumbai D team. Suryakumar Yadav was the captain of the Mumbai B Team and he squared off against Yasahasvi Jaiswal, who
was captain of Mumbai D team. From the very beginning, Suryakumar Yadav showed intent and he was especially brutal on Arjun Tendulkar, the son of India great Sachin Tendulkar. In one over,
Suryakumar Yadav smashed 21 runs off Arjun Tendulkar and the right-hander showed his class. In tht over, he hit three fours and one six. Suryakumar Yadav ended with 120 off just 47 balls at
a strike-rate of 255. The knock included 10 fours and nine sixes as Mumbai B ended with 213. In the previous practice match, Suryakumar Yadav had hit an unbeaten 59 off 31 balls. SYED
MUSHTAQ ALI TOURNAMENT DATES ANNOUNCED The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is India’s domestic Twenty20 tournament and it will be played from January 10 to 31. There will be a total of 38 teams
split into six groups. Groups A to E will have six teams, while the Plate Group will have eight teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah had informed all
the State Associations about the squad strength for each and every team, along with a few other Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed during the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
The teams will assemble by January 2 as the first of the domestic tournaments in India in the post-coronavirus world will begin next month. Shah's note sent through an email read,
"Each team can have a maximum of 20 players and 10 support staff. Each team should have a team physician to manage Covid-19-related issues. The team physician is separate from the team
physiotherapist and is inclusive of the 10 support staff.”
