on display, the ‘bloomberg pavilion’, an outdoor installation designed by japanese practice akihisa hirata architecture office will become a stage for changing exhibitions for the museum of
contemporary art tokyo in japan. placed within the entrance plaza, the construct will become a symbol for the museum. a collaborative initiative with financial information provider
bloomberg, the project intends to increase exposure to culture and art by allowing young artists and performers from the city to hold solo exhibits. the pavilion’s form is derived from the
structure of a tree and intends to provide shade to the immediate area. a triangular footprint with crisp planar walls begins to unfold at the roof plane into a series of pleats. the hyplane
structure is comprised of white metal panels in the shape of isosceles triangles. the bends create a curving wall which reflects and introduces a soft light into the interior. front of
