A GROUP OF MALE SKIRT-WEARERS HELD A MARCH IN THE STREETS OF RENNES TO PROMOTE THE IDEA THAT SKIRTS ARE UNISEX AN ASSOCIATION of men who like wearing skirts has been demonstrating in

Brittany capital Rennes for the garment to be seen as unisex. Members of Hommes en Jupe (HEJ), a group founded in 2007, organised their first “Men in Skirts March”, involving walking round

the streets handing out leaflets and asking people their views on skirts for men. Spokesman Jérémie Lefebvre said: “We just want men to try it. In history lots of civilisations had men

wearing skirts. “We want to fight against the cliché that skirts are just for women. People should have respect for a man who wants to wear a skirt. Our dream is that one day shops will sell

skirts for men without prejudice.” HEJ recently backed an exhibition on men’s skirts at Ambazac in the Limousin, which they say attracted male skirt fans from as far away as Belgium and the

UK. It also plans to support next year’s Printemps de la Jupe et du Respect, a nation-wide event with broad aims of respect for others and their differences. Photo: Screenshot from France 3
