by CEDRIC 'BIG CED' THORNTON December 4, 2020 ------------------------- _MSNBC_ has finally hired permanent replacements for the weekend time slot that was once held by “AM Joy”.

The cable news channel has announced the launch of its two new weekend morning shows. The weekend programs, which premiere on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, will have

Tiffany Cross and Jonathan Capehart as hosts. “Jonathan Capehart has been a longtime member of the _MSNBC_ family and his steadfast dedication to great journalism, along with Tiffany Cross

fresh expert analysis, offer our _MSNBC_ weekend morning audience the best of both worlds from two very different life and worldview experiences,” said _MSNBC_ President Phil Griffin in a

written statement. Back in July 2020, the two hosts, Capehart and Cross, had begun filling in as regular hosts for “AM Joy” once Joy Reid had debuted her own show, “The ReidOut,” weeknights

at 7 p.m. on _MSNBC_. The show that Cross will be hosting will air on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET. As a frequent _MSNBC_ guest host, she will “unpack the news of the week with

fresh, diverse voices from a cross-section of journalists, elected officials and thought leaders by creating content on a national platform that centers on communities of color while still

being inclusive of a wider audience.” Capehart’s show is slated to air on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET. He will “bring his years of experience covering Washington politics through

three presidents, making him uniquely positioned to examine where we are as a country, explore the stakes ahead as the U.S. prepares to usher in a new president and cut through the political

noise with compelling discussions.” Capehart and Cross join an established group of journalists and hosts that include Kendis Gibson, Lindsey Reiser, Ali Velshi, Alex Witt, Yasmin

Vossoughian, Rev. Al Sharpton, Richard Lui, Alicia Menendez and Joshua Johnson.
