ABOUT
Angela Houghton, MA, is manager of audience research in AARP Research where she leads a team delivering insights on key 50+ consumer audience segments to drive AARP’s enterprise strategy.
The team’s portfolio includes racial and ethnic populations, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, veterans, women, and other sociodemographic groups. Her role includes managing primary research
and secondary data analysis from conceptualization to insight delivery; as well as providing subject matter expertise on survey research methods, data interpretation, and research
communications for diverse populations.
Houghton also supports a research agenda on health and wealth equity that aims to eliminate disparities in aging based on race, ethnicity, and other sociodemographic factors. As a champion
for equity in research and data, Houghton pursues innovative solutions for more inclusive and representative data through consultation, convenings, conference speaking, strategic
partnerships, and publishing of original research.
Prior to joining AARP in 2011, Houghton worked for a global research supplier (now Ipsos) managing large-scale, multinational consumer research projects in Latin America, Europe, Asia and
U.S. Hispanic markets.
Houghton received a master’s in international business from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s in English literature from Louisiana State University.
