NASA scientists were left agog when the Perseverance Rover spotted this "zebra" style rock on its own on the surface of Mars. The rover has been travelling up the rim of the Jezero
Crater, in search of clues to Mars' long-lost history. In an online post, NASA confirmed they hadn't spotted a rock like this on the Red Planet before. As it's a loose stone,
they believe it might have rolled down from a higher position, leading to hope they might find a similarly-coloured outcrop further up the rim. The researchers dubbed it "Freya
Castle". It's about 20cm across. "Our knowledge of its chemical composition is limited, but early interpretations are that igneous and/or metamorphic processes could have
created its stripes," the NASA post read.
