a man before he mysteriously disappeared and died during a stag do in Portugal. Greg Monks, from Cambuslang near Glasgow, went missing last Tuesday evening a mere hours after landing in the
Algarve with his friends. The last known image of the 38-year-old depicts him grinning whilst dressed in a dark Nike top and matching trousers. It's thought that this photo was taken
prior to Greg and his friends departing from the Novochoro Apartments hotel, heading towards the pubs in Albufeira. Greg vanished the next day, having informed his friends that he would
return to his hotel alone after several hours of drinking. He was last seen on CCTV in the residential area of Cerro de Aguia, roughly four miles distant from the main pub area. Article
continues below His abrupt disappearance triggered an extensive week-long search, with both his parents and girlfriend flying out to join. Tragically, Portuguese police announced that they
had discovered a body in a ravine on Wednesday (June 4), reports the Mirror. The authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, including the routes he
may have taken, amid suggestions Greg became disoriented and tragically fell to his death. Jillian Monks, 36, Greg's sister who spearheaded a widespread social media campaign to locate
him, shared her family's immense grief, while paying tribute to her "amazing" sibling. She told the Record: "We are truly heartbroken. Everyone who knows Greg knows how
much he will be missed and what an amazing guy he was." Article continues below News of the heartbreaking event earlier today has led to an outpouring of emotional tributes for Greg,
remembered as a "lovely guy". Alexander McHendrie said: "Rip Greg Monks defo one of life's good guys such a shame. Heart goes out to the family and the boys also."
